Rhinolophus megaphyllus RHME
Characteristic frequency 66 to 70 kHz. Perfectly flat, except for up sweeping initial section, and down sweeping tail. Sometimes displaying identical shaped pulses at other harmonics.
This is the only Horseshoe bat found in NSW. It can’t be confused with any other bat.
A typical sequence:
Two individuals flying together. Note how the echo clouds in the beginning are positioned a bit up in pitch, indicating that the bats are flying away from the microphone.
